Before your appointment
A few minutes of prep means we can get right to fixing things. Don't worry if you can't do all of it, we'll figure out the rest together.
I'll never ask for your passwords. When one is needed, you type it in yourself.
Checklist
- Charge it upHave the device charged, and keep the charger nearby.
- Unlock it yourselfBe ready to unlock your phone, tablet, or computer with your own passcode, fingerprint, or face. You do the unlocking, not me.
- Know your sign-insIf we might need your Apple ID, Google account, or another login, make sure you can sign in. You type it yourself. I'll never ask for it, and please don't write it down for me.
- Jot down the problemA quick list of what's going wrong, when it started, and any error messages. A photo of the screen helps too.
- Back up if you canIf you already have a backup (iCloud, Google, or an external drive), great. If not, that's OK, I'll check before changing anything important.
- Have the old and new devices togetherFor a new phone or computer setup, keep both devices handy, plus any boxes or cables that came with the new one.
- Send scam screenshots aheadFor a scam check, send a screenshot first, and don't tap any links in it. Cover up account numbers and other personal details.
For remote help
